If your move is across the metro, across town, or just down the street, this is the page for you. A local move at Dielman means one of our St. Louis crews loading your home in the morning and unloading it at the new address by the afternoon, all on the same truck, with the same team, on a published rate.
We handle one-bedroom apartments in University City, four-bedroom homes in Kirkwood, downsizes from Ladue to Webster Groves, and weekday office moves into and out of Clayton CBD. Same green trucks, same standards, since 1990.
Same-day callback, no pressure
The technical definition matters because it changes how we quote, crew, and insure your job.
A local move at Dielman is any move that loads, drives, and unloads inside the St. Louis metro on a single day. We use one truck, one crew, and one continuous stretch of work, which lets us bill on a transparent hourly or flat-rate basis instead of the per-pound interstate tariff. If your origin and destination are both inside our 19-city service area, you are looking at a local job.
Our local hourly rate covers a fully equipped truck, the crew, fuel, blankets, dollies, and basic disassembly. No per-flight stair fees, no fuel surcharges, no “heavy item” add-ons unless we agreed to one upfront. The clock starts when the crew arrives and stops when the last box is in the new house.
If you would rather know the total before move day, we will quote a flat rate based on home size, distance, building access, and service add-ons. The number we quote is the number on the invoice. If something changes on move day, we tell you before it costs you a dollar.
Local means no warehouse handoff and no transfer between trucks. The crew that loads your home in Kirkwood is the crew that unloads in Webster Groves. Your couch goes on the truck once and comes off once.
Every local move is covered under our commercial liability policy. We can issue a Certificate of Insurance to your building or property manager (most St. Louis high-rises require one) at no extra charge. USDOT 1712112, MC 1632147-P, BBB-accredited.
Transparent ranges based on home size and crew. What we quote is what you pay.
Every local move is different, but we believe in being upfront about cost. The ranges below are typical for St. Louis metro local moves loaded and unloaded in a single day. High-rise condos with strict dock windows and historic homes with narrow staircases tend toward the higher end of each range. Single-family moves with driveway access fall on the lower end.
| Move Size | Crew | Typical Range | What’s Included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Studio / 1 BR | 2 Movers | $550 – $950 | Truck, blankets, floor protection, basic disassembly and reassembly |
| 2 BR Home or Condo | 3 Movers | $950 – $1,650 | Truck, full pad-wrap, dock coordination, stair carries |
| 3 BR Home | 3–4 Movers | $1,500 – $2,400 | Truck, full pad-wrap, piano-rated dollies, dedicated foreman |
| 4+ BR Estate | Custom crew | Custom Quote | On-site walkthrough, crating for art and antiques, multi-day option |

Real reviews from real St. Louis families and businesses we have moved locally.
"Moved a 3-bedroom in Kirkwood to a smaller house in Webster Groves. The crew showed up on time, padded everything, and finished a full hour under the estimate. Honest pricing, careful handling, and a foreman who treated my parents’ antiques like his own."
Maria T., Kirkwood → Webster Groves"Quoted me a flat rate that included the high-rise dock fee at the new building, and stuck to it. The whole job took 5 hours from doorstep to doorstep, including the tight elevator coordination. Will use them again the next time we move."
Marcus J., Brentwood → Clayton"Booked them with two weeks notice for a 1-bedroom in University City. Came in at $590 all-in, including a baby grand piano move that I thought would double the price. Professional, fast, no damage. Recommend without reservation."

Both, your choice. Hourly is our default for studios and 1-bedrooms because it tends to come in lowest. For 2+ bedroom homes, especially with high-rise dock coordination or known stair complications, a flat rate gives you cost certainty before move day. We will quote both options on the call and recommend the one that comes out cheaper for your specific job.
Studios and 1-bedrooms: 2 movers. 2-bedrooms: 3 movers. 3-bedroom homes: 3 to 4 movers. 4+ bedroom estates: 4 or more, sometimes split across two trucks. We size the crew based on home size, stair count, and any specialty items. A bigger crew finishes faster, which usually nets out close to the same total cost on hourly jobs.
Only if you want to. We offer full packing, partial packing (kitchens and fragile rooms only is a popular middle ground), and supply-only options if you want to pack yourself but need quality boxes and paper. Custom crating for art, mirrors, and antiques is available on request.
If we miss a quote on an hourly job, you pay the actual hours, not a buffered estimate. If we miss a flat-rate quote because of something unexpected on our end, the flat rate stands. The only thing that changes the flat rate mid-move is something you ask us to add (extra packing, a stop at storage, an additional pickup), and we tell you the new number before the work starts.
Two to four weeks for a weekday in any season. For Saturday in May through August, six to eight weeks because that is the metro’s peak relocation window. Last-minute moves are not impossible. We typically have a same-week opening or two each week, especially for studios and 1-bedrooms.
Yes. Commercial general liability, cargo coverage, and worker’s comp on every crew member. We are USDOT 1712112, MC 1632147-P, BBB-accredited (A+), and we will issue a Certificate of Insurance to any property manager or HOA that requires one at no charge. Most St. Louis high-rises require this and most cheap movers cannot produce one on short notice.
